This shows the steps used in downloading a program file using the Windows XP Operating System. If you're running an earlier version of Windows, you might prefer to read this download tutorial

Open the Download Now link

I suggest you use the "Save" option.

1. If you click "Save" a "Save As" window opens. "Save As" is the Window's title.

2. Directly beneath that is a "Save In" selection box. The folder that appears in the box is the last place something was saved to.

3. You can click on one of the folders on the left side to use that location. In this example, I clicked on "Desktop" so now the "Save In" box says "Desk Top".

3. To go to a different folder, click the inverted black triangle on the right side of the "Save In" selection box. When the selection list opens, it shows a "tree" or "pathway" to various locations on your computer.

You can also choose a subfolder as your "SaveIn" location.

When you're finished with your selections, click "Save".

The download progress dialog box shows that the download has completed.

If you saved the file to your Desktop, click "Close".

If you saved the file to another location, click "Open Folder".

Locate your file download

In this case, it is on the Desktop.

Unless you're very sure that the file is safe, I suggest you right-click on the file and scan the file for any virus infections.

The virus scan shows that this file is not infected and safe to open.

Open the file and then click the "Run" button to begin the installation if the file is a program.

Once the installation begins, just follow the steps shown by the wizard.

If you downloaded a file, you can open the application

Click the File menu

Click the Open command

Navigate to the Save location.
